What is MiroTalk?

MiroTalk is your video meeting tool. It runs entirely in the browser: you create a meeting room, share the link, and people join - no download, no account needed for guests. That makes it ideal for client calls: your customer clicks one link and they're in.

It covers what teams use Zoom or Google Meet for daily: video and audio calls, screen sharing, in-call chat, and recording. Because it runs on your own instance, there is no 40-minute free-plan timer and no third party sitting in your calls.

How it works: a meeting is a "room" identified by its link. Rooms can be ad-hoc (created on the spot) or reusable - you can keep a permanent link like your-instance/join/weekly-standup for recurring meetings.

Getting started

  1. Open your company's MiroTalk address in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari (Brundo provides the URL). No installation needed.
  2. Create a room. Click Join room, give the room a name (this becomes part of the link), and enter.
  3. Allow camera and microphone when the browser asks. You can pre-check both on the preview screen before joining.
  4. Invite others. Click the invite/share button, copy the link, and send it via Mattermost or email. Guests join by clicking - nothing else needed.

First-time check: do a 2-minute test call with a colleague before your first client meeting - confirm your mic, camera and screen share all work on your machine.

Core concepts

The room name in the link is the meeting. Anyone with the link can knock; use hard-to-guess names or passwords for sensitive calls.

Host controls

The room creator can lock the room, mute participants, and remove someone if needed. Lock the room once everyone expected has arrived.

Screen sharing

Share your entire screen, a single window, or one browser tab. Sharing a single window is safest - no stray notifications on display.

In-call chat

A text panel inside the call - useful for dropping links or notes without interrupting the speaker. Chat is not kept after the room closes, so copy anything important.

Everyday tasks, step by step

Run a client meeting

  1. Create a room with a professional name (e.g. brundo-acme-kickoff).
  2. Set a room password (settings inside the room) for confidential calls.
  3. Send the link and password to the client in your calendar invite.
  4. Join 2–3 minutes early; lock the room once everyone is in.

Share your screen for a presentation

  1. Click the screen share icon in the toolbar.
  2. Choose Window and select your presentation window.
  3. Click the icon again to stop sharing when done.

Record a meeting

  1. Tell participants they are being recorded - required in most jurisdictions and simply good manners.
  2. Click the record button; recording runs in your browser.
  3. Stop recording before leaving; the file saves to your Downloads. Store it in Nextcloud if the team needs it.

Tips & good habits

  • Use headphones - the single biggest audio-quality improvement you can make.
  • On poor connections, turn your camera off; audio takes priority.
  • Keep a permanent room link for recurring internal meetings so nobody hunts for links.
  • Mute when not speaking in calls of 4+ people.
  • Virtual backgrounds are available if you're calling from a busy environment.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Others can't hear me. Check the mic icon isn't muted, then check browser permissions (padlock icon in the address bar → allow microphone), then check your OS hasn't muted the input device.

Video is choppy. Usually the network. Turn off your camera, close bandwidth-heavy apps, or move closer to your router. Wired beats Wi-Fi.

How many people can join? Everyday team and client calls (up to a few dozen participants) are fine. For very large all-hands or webinars, talk to Brundo first.

Do guests need an account? No. The link is enough - that's the point.
